Period Poverty Listening Campaign Table talk

Te Ohu Tāmaki has launched an Auckland-Wide Listening Campaign on Period Poverty to surface real stories about the effects of period poverty and lack of access to period products.

Our goal is to amplify lived experiences, highlight systemic barriers, and drive action for menstrual equity across Tāmaki Makaurau.
At the last AGM, Te Ohu Tāmaki Makaurau Alliance voted to take action on this issue.

The Research Action Group is now leading the campaign, starting with a series of Wānanga, Talanoa and Table Talks – structured conversations designed to listen, learn, and build momentum for change.

Why this matters:

  • 1 in 4 menstruators in Aotearoa struggle to access period products.
  • Lack of access to products leads to missed school, work, and community participation.
  • The stigma around menstruation makes it difficult for people to ask for help or share their experiences.
