The sponsoring organisations are committed to creating a broad-based organisation comprised of the diverse groups of civil society capable of influencing change in society. From the sponsoring organisations, a sponsoring committee is formed, which is an ad hoc group of committed groups leading the development of the alliance. The Sponsoring Committee is not the organisation. Its job is to sponsor the building of the Auckland alliance, Te Ohu Whakawhanaunga.
The object of alliances is to stand for the whole. The issue is how to prioritise the people, whose voices needed to be magnified and heard. – Joe Chrastil, IAF
