Lee Tan entered the Sisters of St Joseph Congregation in 2016 and she has spent time in Australia until March 2019. In addition to immersion in the Josephites life and ministry, she was involved with the Sydney Alliance and the Queensland Community Alliance movements in developing active citizenship and community leadership to act on current issues such as affordable housing, better access to education and skills training for asylum seekers and refugees among other issues.

She currently works as a Reflective Practitioner and Community Organiser with Te Ohu Whakawhanaunga, an emerging community alliance in Auckland. Lee is passionate about social justice, and prior to becoming a Josephite, she has worked in market research, primary and community health, DHB planning and funding, Māori development and labour market policy, and Māori Health Equity.
